The 36 Characters represent the changes of the life of Man 4 suites of 9 caracters. WAN the character suit translates as TEN THOUSAND. These represent abstract concepts, such as the visionary, perfectionist of theorist. Spreads that have a high proportion of WAN cards often indicate highly complex situations.

1 Wan Entering

A

New opportunities have arrived. Obstacles have been removed from your path.

The Entering tile indicates that barriers you now face will soon be lifted. Opportunity and success are ahead, but you must have the courage and energy to take advantage of them.

A barrier being lifted, or a door being opened, bringing new opportunities and perhaps a new life ahead. Occasionally the barrier is an obstruction to one’s aims. If the card replaces one of the Guardian cards, it signifies that although doors may appear to be closed at the moment, they will be opened eventually.

2 Wan Sword

A

Although there is a balance at the moment, no progress can be made until a decision is made. A choice or a decision is necessary. Twins.

The Sword tile indicates a decision must be made before attainment of your goals can be reached.

Quandary and decision. Severance. No progress while there are still two; the situation will be a stalemate until some move is made. The Sword represents the element Metal; its appropriate colour is white, its season Autumn, and its direction West.

3 Wan Earth

A

Stability is indicated. Issues involving relocation, the land, the countryside or an estate.

The Land tile suggests either a stable setting in which you are already thriving, or one that will exist in the near future. With stability your success and vision will grow.

The fixed centre, and so does not belong to any season or compass direction. Land, estate, wide open spaces, and the countryside.

With the House (5 Wan) it presents a picture of a building standing in its own land.

When it follows any card representing travel (such as Water, 6 Bamboo) it shows travel to another country over water.

A

The Lute tile indicates a need for relaxation.Music, leisure and the performing arts.

The performing arts Leisure Relaxation and a time for enjoyment after a day’s or a lifetime’s work. The literal significance of music is shown by the close proximity of Bamboo cards, particularly the Carp (4 Bamboo) or Water (6 Bamboo). With the Mushroom (8 Bamboo) there is an additional sense of the eccentric or ‘fringe’ performance. When the card is close to the industrious cards Jade (4 Circles) or the Insect (7 Circles) it symbolizes reward for honest toil.

This tile indicates issues regarding a house or a building. Real estate.

The House tile represents a building in which you spend much time.

If your reading is positive it may well be that this building has the important function providing you with a stable environment in which you are comfortable.

If the reading is negative it may represent a structure in which you are stressed and uncomfortable.

Any building: the home, place of business, administrative offices, school or hospital.

The tangible fabric of a building rather than the symbol of an organization or society. The Seven Stars tile signifies creative growth and power. Creativity should be applied to the area this tile appears. This is a place to let your imagination run free.

The Seven Stars tile also indicates hope for the future.

The Seven Stars represented are the stars which form the familiar pattern of the Plough, part of the Great Bear of western astronomy.

Writing, mathematics, or literature, particularly if it appears in conjunction with the Pine (2 Circles).

With Water (6 Bamboo) it indicates journals, diaries, and accounts.

In the East a literary person, frequently a dreamer rather than someone who Can put ideas into action.

8 Wan Knot

A

Tying or untying. The situation is in flux.

The Knot tile represents both bonding and severing.

If the Sword tile (2 Wan) is in your reading then the time to sever ties with someone or something is at hand.

Conversely if the Duck tile (2 Bamboo) is in your reading then there is bond that will strengthen.

If both or neither appear in your reading, then you have a relationship of some kind that is of undecided value.

The tying and the untying of a Knot. Refer to whatever question was presented to the oracle, and the cards which are to the side of the Knot. If the Sword a knot has to be severed.

Duck the Knot is obviously being tied.

The Knot is a sign of problems and anxieties.

East it reveals indecision. If it appears in the first or third positions, it shows other people get the impression that the querent is not sufficiently determined If in the middle (second) position it shows inner fears and nagging doubts.

The Heaven tile suggests completion. This tile denotes a time for you to consider moving on to your next goal.

When the Heaven card appears next to that of the House, it represents the Temple; it only needs the Door (Entering 1 Wan) to obtain the picture of someone entering the Temple to take part in a solemn celebration.

If Heaven and Earth are next to each other, it signifies that when the events on Earth follow Heaven’s laws everything is in order, and happiness and prosperity abound.
