‘Black Thursday’ - Prices fell so quickly that people rushed to sell their shares. Nearly 13 million shares have been traded.
Friday 25 October 1929
Bankers met at midday to support the stock market. This seems to have worked as prices have steadied.

President Hoover assured all Americans that the panic was over and that businesses and banking would soon recover

‘Black Tuesday’ - Nearly 16.5 million shares have been traded. Shares have lost all value. Many shareholders have lost everything. Suicides reported.
