Procedure?
Questionairres asked info if the adults in the home were smokers
Participants were sorted into 6 categories based on stage of smoking uptake.
1)non sus non smo
2) sus non smo
3)early exp
4)advanced exp (less than 100)
5)established smo(more than 100)
6)current smoking (smoked in last 30 days)
Closed qs found out how smoking was restricted in home.
Two measures of school smoking- whether there was a ban, and if so how well it was enforced.
Results?
Home smoking bans most effective
School smoking =11% reduction in uptake of smoking
Not developing a smoking habit was significantly linked to parent enforced restrictions at home, legal restrictions in public places and school enforced bans.
Conclusions?
May be other factors influencing

To determine the relation between the extent of restrictions on smoking at home, in school and in public places and smoking uptake and prevalence among school students.
