Wake Turbulence Flashcards
A disturbance in the atmosphere that forms behind an aircraft as it passes through the air
Wake Turbulence
The effect of the rotating air masses generated behind the wing tips of large jet aircraft
Wake Turbulence
Refers to the rapidly moving gases expelled from a jet engine; extremely turbulent, but of short duration
Jet Wash
Much more stable and can remain in the air for up to three minutes after the passage of an aircraft
Wingtip Vortices
Present behind every aircraft. Severe when generated by large and wide-bodied jet aircraft
Wake Vortices
Two counter-rotating cylindrical air masses trailing from the aircraft
Wake Vortices
Wake vortices are dangerous to aircraft during what phases of flight?
