Types of FGM
1 - clitoridectomy
2 - excision of clitoris and labia minora +/- lab. maj
3 - infibulation = narrowing of vaginal opening
4 - other harmful procedures to female genitalia for non-medical purposes
RF for FGM
- primary relatives have had FGM
- mother requested re-infubulation following delivery
- parents express view valuing practice
- girl withdrawn from teaching of PSHE
