7D. What is Ego-State-Therapy?

A
  • People who have suffered serious psychological injuries (trauma) develop defense mechanisms to protect their personality against the feelings of pain and fear associated with the injury.
  • Some do this by “dividing” their personality into different ego states. This almost always happens unconsciously at first.
  • These ego parts can develop a life of their own like “own personalities”, with “own” will, “own” thoughts and feelings. The ego state therapy helps those affected to better connect these parts of the ego in the direction of a holistic personality.

7E. What is Hypnoanesthesia?

A
  • With hypnoanaesthesia, sensory perceptions are influenced during and after the operation in such a way that they are processed differently.
  • Pain may be felt less or not disturbing.
  • Suggestions for rest and relaxation can be processed in dreams.
  • Fears of anesthesia may be reduced.
  • The use of narcotics and thus their side effects can possibly be reduced.
