What’s Prepaid Maintenance?

What’s side assist? When does it activate?
VW’s blind-spot monitoring system. It lights up your mirror if there’s a car hiding in your blind spot. It activates at speeds above 15 km/h.

If you start drifting out of your lane without signaling, Lane Assist nudges you back. It activates above 60 km/h.

What does DSG stand for, what is it?
Direct-Shift Gearbox—VW’s fast-shifting dual-clutch transmission for smoother, sportier driving.

A clear film that protects against rock chips on the hood and bumper. Invisible armour for your paint.
What is road side assistance?
Flat tire? Dead battery? VW’s got you for 4 years/80,000 km in Canada. Just call, and they’ll come to the rescue.

What is emergency assist?
If you stop responding while driving (like if you fall asleep), the car will try to wake you up. If you don’t react, it slows down and stops safely.
What is front assist? When does it activate/deactivate?
It’s VW’s forward collision warning and automatic braking system. It activates when it detects a possible crash ahead, and if you ignore it, the car brakes for you.
What is progressive steering? What vehicles have it?
It changes the steering ratio based on speed—light and easy at low speeds, firm and precise at high speeds. It’s found on sporty models like the Golf GTI, Golf R, and Jetta GLI’s.
What is dynamic chassis control? Which vehicles have it?
DCC adjusts the suspension on the fly for comfort or sportier handling. It’s available on performance models like the Golf R. Basically, it makes your ride as smooth or as aggressive as you want—without swapping out your shocks.
What’s the purpose of having fake exhaust pipes?
- Keep the exhausts shiny and atheistically pleasing.
- Plus the real exhausts are under the fake ones so it aims down and not at vehicles behind you.
What’s the purpose of a trickle charger in the engines?
It maintains battery charge, especially in colder weather or when the car sits unused.
Why are there red colours on trim pieces in some VW’s?
Red is VW’s sporty signature—found on GTI, GLI, and R-Line models. It’s like putting on a red tie to let everyone know you mean business.
What is IQ.Light?
That’s VW’s interactive LED light strip on the dash. It gives visual alerts for things like navigation, calls, and safety warnings. It’s like your car whispering instructions at you—without the noise.
Why do some VW engines sit so low and so far apart from the cabin?
It’s all about safety and handling. A lower center of gravity improves stability, and in a crash, the engine is designed to slide under the car instead of into the passenger compartment. Gives more cabin space.

What is car-net? What features does it have?
An app that lets you remote-start, lock/unlock, check vehicle status, and find your car.
Why are VW service so expensive? How do you explain it to customers?
- German engineering = precision parts and specialized service. But you get quality, longevity, and fewer issues in the long run.
- Shipping to Canada was a reason too, now we have factories in the states and Mexico, so those shipping costs have been cut down, plus the ppm, services are a lot more affordable than what they were before.
