What was Operation Rolling Thunder?

A

Rolling Thunder was a bombing campaign that targeted the Ho Chi
Minh Trail and industrial areas in North Vietnam. As well as bombs, the
US also dropped napalm (a burning chemical) and pineapple bombs
(which shoot pellets everywhere when they explode).

Chemical warfare—Operation Ranch Hand: What was it?

A

The US first used chemical weapons in Vietnam in 1961. They sprayed crops and jungle with
herbicides to make the VC easier to find, and to cut off their food supply.
