VPC AWS Transit Gateway Flashcards

1
Q

What is AWS Transit Gateway?

A

AWS Transit Gateway connects VPCs and on-premises networks through a central hub. This simplifies your network and puts an end to complex peering relationships. It acts as a cloud router – each new connection is only made once.

Q

What are the 3 advantages of AWS Transit Gateway?

A
  1. As you expand globally, inter-Region peering connects AWS Transit Gateways together using the AWS global network.
  2. Your data is automatically encrypted, and never travels over the public internet.
  3. And, because of its central position, AWS Transit Gateway Network Manager has a unique view over your entire network, even connecting to Software-Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN) devices.

What are the AWS Transit Gateway Exam Tips?

A
  1. Allows you to have transitive peering between thousands of VPCs and on-premises data centers.
  2. Works on a hub and spoke model.
  3. Works on a regional basis, but you can have it across multiple regions.
  4. You can use it across multiple AWS accounts using “RAM” (Resource Access Manager).
  5. You can use route tables to limit how VPCs talk to one another.
  6. Works with Direct Connect as well as VPN connections.
  7. Supports IP Multicast (not supported by any other AWS service).
