Q

How easy is fptp

A

Easy as it only requires someone to tick a box. However, it is an under-representative as in 2017 labour got 27% of the vote but only got 12% of the seats

Q

How does fptp provide a good mp/constituent link

A

As voters vote for their mps. However it does not allow any smaller/newer parties in e.g greens which leads to less democracy as new parties struggle

Q

How is ams good

A

As it provides more voter choice e.g. two votes which can both be used for different parties. However, the two vote system is complex and may induce things like voter fatigue

Q

How does ams allow for parties with more spread out support to get in

A

As it allows for reigonal votes which are bigger areas so more votes are counted into a bigger vote pool. However, this does make coalitions more likely
