A
voters get one vote where they place an X in a box next to their preferred candidate, the candidate with the most votes wins. used in general elections

A
a hybrid of FPTP and PR, 73 of the 129 MSPs are elected using FPTP and the remaining 56 are elected using the party list, these are refered to as top up MSPs. each voter has 2 votes, one for a single MSP and one for a regional list. used in scottish parliament elections
