Volumetric Analysis Flashcards
1
Q
Titration
A
- Measure one solution into a conical flask using a pipette
- The other solution is added from the burette until a permanent colour change of an indicator is seen in the conical flask
- A ‘ rough’ titration is carried out first followed by more accurate titrations until concordant titre values are achieved
- Average value of concordant titres is used in calculations
2
Q
What different titrations are used to carry out volumetric analysis
A
- Standard Titrations
- Complexometric Titrations
- Back Titrations
3
Q
Primary Standard Characteristics
A
- high state of purity
- stability in air and water
- solubility
- reasonably high formula mass
