Articulation
The formation of clear and distinct sounds in speech
Projection
Making your voice loud enough and clear enough
Breath control
To be able to control your breathing in order to hold a note, complete the sentence or to control nerves
Learning Lines
To know not only your dialogue, but also your cues
Pitch
This is where you place your voice e.g., a high pitched voice is said to be squeaky
Inflection
This is how you change the pitch to emphasise something
Tone
This is usually the way that you say something
Colour
This is the richness of your voice and how these can alternate to have variety
Phrasing
This is how you break a sentence up to add meaning
Pace
How fast or slow you speak; this can change the meaning or add meaning
Use of pause
This is an effective way of creating tension and holding the audience’s attention
