Anarchy
no government; not controlled by rules or laws
Sovereignty
a country’s independent authority and the right to govern itself
Independence
freedom from the outside control
Equality
the quality or state of having the same rights
Unanimity
agreed by all; nobody has to do anything they didn’t agree to do
Coordinated Law
laws that only apply if the person lets it apply (think king vs citizens)
Subordinated Law
laws that everyone has to follow; nobody is above the law
Jus Cogens
certain fundamental, overriding principles of international law
Levels of Anaysis
the categories of causation
Individual Analysis
focus on leaders; one leader, one policy, etc. and the solution is to change leaders
Country Analysis
society is the key to what’s going on; different needs for each country
Systematic Analysis
the international arena has countries do things they might not have normally done
Human Nature
the central characteristics possessed by all people that make them behave the way they do
Personality Analysis
a method of assessing human personality constructs
Abnormal Personality
engage in socially unacceptable behavior and don’t realize they are doing it and can’t control it
