Vocabulary Unit 1 Flashcards
Data (Datos)
a collection of information gathered by observation, questioning or measurement
Graphs (Gráficos)
a pictorial representation of any data in an organized manner
Categorical Data (Datos Categóricos)
characteristics such as a person’s gender, hometown, or the types of movies they like.
Numerical Data (Datos Numéricos)
measurable data, such as time, height, weight, amount, and so on
Change (Cambio)
the difference between two values of a variable over a specific period of time
Increase (Incremento)
get larger in size, number or quantity
Decrease (Decremento)
to become smaller in size, amount, or number
X-Coordinate (Coordenada-X)
the first value, the horizontal value in a pair of coordinates
Y-Coordinate (Coordenada-Y)
the second value, the vertical value in a pair of coordinates
Line Graphs (Gráficos de Línea)
a graphical representation of information that changes over a period of time
Interpret (Interpretar)
Giving a value (meaning) to mathematical expressions (symbols, formulas, etc.).
Ordered Pairs (Pares Ordenados)
a pair of numbers that shows the position of a point on a graph
X-axis (Eje-X)
the horizontal axis of a two-dimensional coordinate grid
Y-axis (Eje-Y)
the vertical axis of a two-dimensional coordinate grid
Data Tables (Tabla de Datos)
a method of organizing information into rows and columns, allowing for easy analysis of data, typically used to compare and identify patterns within a dataset
Patterns (Patrones)
a repeated arrangement of numbers, shapes, colours and so on
Relationships (Relación)
the connection between terms
Corresponding Terms (Términos Correspondientes)
are those that appear at the same “step” or position within each pattern.
Coordinate Grids (Cuadrícula de Coordenadas)
a system of coordinates formed by the perpendicular intersection of horizontal & and vertical number lines.
Growing Patterns (Patrones de Crecimiento)
a sequence of numbers or shapes where each element consistently increases in value or size according to a specific rule
origin (origen)
the point (0,0) on a two-dimensional coordinate grid
