Phony
Not genuine or real, intended to deceive or mislead.
Ex. They all avoided the phony text messages they were getting because they knew they were fake.
Ostracize
To exclude someone from a group or society; to reject or shun
ex. Everyone ostracized and ignored her after she lost the big race.
Sadistic
Taking pleasure in the infliction of pain, punishment, or humiliation on others
ex. She was sadistic towards her younger brother and often liked to hurt him.
Qualm
An uneasy feeling of doubt, worry, or fear, especially about one’s own conduct; a misgiving
ex. I had qualms and uneasy feelings that I would get in big trouble because I forgot to do my homework.
Monotonous
Dull, tedious, and repetitious; lacking in variety or interest; unvarying in tone or pitch
ex. The cardboard factory tour put all the students in a monotonous and bored mood.
Unscrupulous
Having or showing no moral principals; not honest or fair
ex. The teacher was unscrupulous in his grading and never gave partial credit even when students deserved it.
Gripe
To complain or grumble about something, especially something trivial or small
ex. Emma griped all the time about child lab she complained daily.
Conscientious
Characterized by extreme care and great effort; wishing to do what is right, especially to do one’s work or duty well and thoroughly
ex. The valedictorian was very conscientious and worked very hard to receive the title.
Adapt
To become adjusted to new conditions; to make fit for or change to suit a new purpose
ex. People have to adapt to the school schedule when school starts again after the summer and get used to going to bed earlier and waking up earlier.
Fiend
A person who is excessively fond of or addicted to something
ex. I was a fiend because of my coffee addiction.
Suave
Charming, confident, relaxed and elegant
ex. He looked very suave in his suit at the ball.
Lavish
Giving or using a large amount of something; extra generous or abundant; rich, elaborate, or luxurious
ex. She lived a lavish life and threw tons money into all sorts of trivial things.
