Magma
Is a hot liquid based material found below the Earth’s surface
Lava
Is magma but has escaped from inside the earth.
Magnetic field
A region around a magnetic material or a moving electrical charge within the force of which magnetism acts.
Plate Tectonics
The theory explaining the movement of the earth’s crust
Solidify
To make or become hard or solid
Convergent Boundary
Where two plates push against each other, creating mountains or volcanoes
Divergent Boundary
Where two plates diverge from each other creating new oceanic ridges
Subduction
Where the denser plate move underneath the lighter plate. It creates volcanoes.
Plumes
A long cloud of smoke or vapour
Plate boundary
Is the space for the separation of a plate
Transform boundary
Where two plates slide against each other, creating earthquakes.
Volcano
A mountain or hill that has a carter where lava erupts.
Vent
An opening that allows magma to escape
Eruption
Where lava is exposed from the creator of a volcano.
Ring of Fire
Is where a plate causes a lot of volcanic activities
Vulcanology
Is the study of volcanoes
Hot Spot
A volcanic region where mantle expels
Epicentre
The point on the earth’s surface vertically above the focus of an earthquake.
P wave
They are longitudinal waves. They travel through solids and liquids.
S wave
They are transversal waves. They travel through solids and liquids.
