give the difference between two or more things
infer
read between the lines. This means the answer is NOT in the passage, so you have to answer using an educated guess
interpret
write your understanding of the passage in your own words
predict
say or estimate that (a specified thing) will happen in the future or will be a consequence of something
summarize
give a brief statement of the main points of (something)
use context clues
context clues are hints that an author gives to help define a difficult or unusual word. The clue may appear within the same sentence as the word to which it refers, or it may follow in a preceding sentence
critique
evaluate (a theory or practice) in a detailed an analytical way
cite evidence
quote (a passage, book, or author) as evidence for or justification of an argument or statement, especially in scholarly work
draw conclusions
a conclusion is a decision or an opinion you reach based on details in a literary work. To draw conclusion, ask questions as you read, such as “Why is this character alone so often?” Then, look for story details that help you answer the question
revise
reconsider and alter (something) in the light of further evidence
anaylze
examine methodically and in detail the constitution or structure of (something, especially information), typically for purposes of explanation and interpretation
connect
associate or relate in some respect
