Exposition
Background history of a main character
Setting
The time and place of where a story takes place.
Conflict
The problem that takes place in a story.
Internal Conflict
The decision a main character has to make.
External Conflict
A physical problem outside the characters mind.
Rising Action
The rising action of the story is all of the events that lead to the eventual climax
Turning Point
A turning point in a story is a moment in the plot when a character must make a decision that will change the course of the story.
Falling Action
Everything that takes place immediately after the climax.
Antagonist
The principal opponent or foil of the main character, who is referred to as the protagonist, in a drama or narrative.
Protagonist
The character who drives the action–the character whose fate matters most.
Climax
The highest point of tension in a storyline, often depicted by a confrontation between the protagonist and antagonist.
Tone
The expression of the author’s attitude.
Theme
What the author is trying to convey
Mood
The emotional atmosphere within the story produced by the author’s use of language. .
Authors Purpose
His/her reason for or intent in writing.
