Q

Explain the function of the heart in its entirety.

A

Blood enters the heart via the Superior and Inferior Vena Cava into the Right Atrium of the heart. The blood then flows through the Tricuspid Valve into the Right Ventricle. From the Right Ventricle, the blood flows through the Pulmonic Valve through the Pulmonary Arties which go to the Lungs. From the Lungs the blood enters back into the heart via the Pulmonary Veins to the Left Atrium. The blood now goes through the Bicuspid or Mitral Valve into the Left Ventricle which is then pumped to the Aorta through the Aortic Valve and the process repeats.
