Biography
The story of a real person’s life written by someone other than that person
Autobiography
A history of a person’s life written by that person. They write their own biography.
Geography
The study of our physical world and how we interact with it.
Geographer
A scientist who studies the Earth’s physical features and the people, plants and animals the live in the different regions.
Latitude lines
Imaginary lines called parallels that circle the Earth from east to west, but measure in degrees how far north or south a place located on earth from the equator.
Longitude lines
Imaginary lines called meridians the run from the North Pole to the South Pole that measure in degrees how far East or west a place is located on earth from the prime meridian.
Equator
The imaginary line that is half way between the North and South Pole. It goes east to west and is measured at 0 degrees.
Prime Meridian
The imaginary line that runs north to south and is measured at 0 degrees.
Climate
The aspects of weather such as temperature, precipitation, and wind that are measured over time in an area.
Tributary
A river or stream flowing into a larger river or lake.
Gulf
A part of an ocean or sea that extends into the land.
Peninsula
A piece of land almost surrounded by water or projecting out into a body of water.
