Define Conduction
The transfer of heat from one particle of matter to another.
Define Convection
The transfer of heat by movement of a fluid.
Define Convection Current
The movement of a fluid caused by differences in temperature, that transfers heat from one part of the fluid to the other.
Define Density
the ratio of mass of a substance to it’s volume (mass divided by volume)
Define Radiation
The transfer of energy by electromagnet waves
Define Convergent Boundary
A plate boundary where 2 plates move forward to each other
Define divergent boundary
A plate boundary where two plates move away from each other.
Define Fault
A break in earth’s crust along which rocks move.
Define Mid-Ocean Ridge
an undersea mountains chain where new ocean floor is produced, a diverged plate boundary
Define Plate
A section of the lithosphere that slowly moves over the asthenosphere, carrying pieces of the continental and oceanic crust.
Define Plate Tectonics
The theory that pieces of the Earth’s lithosphere are in constant motion.
Define Transform Boundary
A plate boundary where two plates move past each other in opposite direction
Define Deep Ocean Trench
A deep valley along the ocean floor beneath which the oceanic crust slowly sinks towards mantle.

The shaking that results from the movement of rock.
Define Rift Valley
A deep valley that forms where two plates move apart
