Q

Proxy Wars (Korean War)

A

In the Proxy Wars, two smaller countries would stand in for significant superpowers such as the UN and the Soviet Union. An example of this was the Korean War, where North Korea invaded South Korea. The Soviet Union gave military resources to North Korea, making the UN have no choice but to support South Korea. The Korean and Vietnam wars were considered proxy wars because although countries were going to war over local issues, they were being backed up by significant superpowers such as the US and USSR. In these proxy wars, the US and USSR would send resources and militaries to back up the countries, making it a more significant scale.
