sour, gloomy
ex: you might look dour on your way to picking up your last check on the job you just got fired from.
ebullient
bubbly, joyously unrestrained, or short-lived happiness
ex: an ebullient personality
equanimity
remaining composed under pressure
ex: he took the news of his parakeet’s death with equanimity.
enervate
weaken physically, mentally or morally
ex: although a 3 hour lecture might thrill someone, to most it would enervate people.
engender
to call forth, to cause, to produce
ex: he engendered the spirit of teamwork.
ephemeral
short-lived
ex: athletes are ephemeral creatures, their performative peaks shorter than the life of hummingbirds.
esoteric
secret, confidential
e: those are more esoteric, and you obviously need to go to a special shop to get tose or order them online, but there’s two recipes that call for those.
expiate
to atone for, to make amends for
ex: the baker must expiate his father’s sins by bringing the witch 3 ingredients.
fiasco
disaster, failure, collapse
ex: the thanksgiving dinner fiasco where the turkey burnt to a crisp.
flaccid
weak, loose, droopy, ACID
ex: a politician’s election campaign is flaccid, it won’t surprise anyone if they only got 2 votes.
laconic
brief and to the point/rude
ex: breakfast conversation is limited to a series of laconic grunts. it is sold sir - laconic reply
latent
unrevealed; existing but not presently evident/realized
ex: latent infection. i have a lot of latent rage against those things.
lethargy/lethargic
lazy, sluggish, drowsy, lack of energy
ex: is your pet slug always this way, or is this display of lethargy unusual?
lugubrious
ridiculously mournful
ex: funerals are lugubrious. so are rainy days and mondays or anything that makes you sad and gloomy.
moribund
being on the point of death, death, ending
ex: a moribund economy that has been stuck in a recession for years.
