Body Image
The way an individual sees their body and how this impacts their perspective on themselves.
Consumer
The buyer of a certain product or service
Guidelines
A rule or set of rules giving guidance on how to behave in a situation.
Additive
A substance added to food to prolong or preserve its life.
Culture
The predominant attitudes or behaviours that characterise the functioning of a group.
Nutrition
Taking in food or other substances necessary for growth, health and good condition.
Fad Diet
An eating plan that promises rapid weight loss by consuming or eliminating certain types of food. Usually popular for short periods of time.
Obesity
A term used to describe someone who is extremely overweight with a high degree of body fat.
Serve
Serve is the recommended amount of food you should eat for each food group.
Kilojoule
A unit used to measure the amount of energy in food.
Carbohydrates
The body’s most important source of energy. Examples include starch, dietary fibre and sugars.
Protein
Necessary for growth, healing and fighting disease and infection. It also helps to develop antibodies and provides energy.
