Graduated cylinder
an instrument for measuring volume whose sides are marked

universal law of gravitation
principle that states the gravitational farce between 2 objects depends on the masses of the objects and the distance between them

spring scale
a balance that measures WEIGHT by the tension on the spring (all my blishish peeps think tension on the J)

balance
a device used for measuring MASS of something by putting it on 1 side and putting weights on the other until it balances

beaker
a wide cylindrical glass with a pouring lip used in laboritories
density
ratio between the mass and the volume of an object
force
the influence of a body that causes a push or pull
newton
mesurement of acceleration
weight
measure of gravitational force on an object
gravity
the force on an object by the earth

kilo
one thousand
centi
100th .00
milli
one thousandth
scientific method
question, research, hypothesis, experiment, analysis, conclusion (you use it to answer a scientifical problemo)
theory
a question or hypothesis that has been tested a bunch and have all had the same result
scientific law
a statement about a theory that has been tested even more and still had the same result (like eating a ton of candy will get you sick………maybe i should…….retest it……a couple more times) :D
volume
amount oif space in a thing like a bucket or a bag…….for candy :D (scientific law)
mass
the amount of stuff in a thing like a candy bag with lots of mass………..is a good thing
matter
anything that has mass or takes up space
meter
SI unit for length
gram
SI unit for mass
ml
one thousandth of the SI unit for volume (it’s a bad thing to only have 1 mL of candy)
cubic cm
a measurement that is pretty much the same as a mL (note the rubik’s cube)

velocity
measurement of speed wid direction (with one direction :D)

Acceleration
rate @ which velocity changes (now how can i bring that back to 1D…..oh well ONE DIRECTION!!!!)

potential energy
by an objects postion how much energy it will have
Kinetic energy
energy of an object because its moving
momentum
the thing you gain as you race out of the classroom on the last day of school and the teacher says “i need to have a word with you” OR if you want the boring answer its the mass times velocity of an object
Friction
force opposing motion when two objects touch

Newton’s laws of motion
annoying…… but if you want the “right” answer its 1.) an object in motion stays in motion, an object at rest stays at rest 2.) when an unbalanced force acts on an object the object will shoot off in the directio of the unbalnced force 3.) when A acts on B, B will act with equal force on A
fulcrum
rigid point or support at which a lever pivots (the part of a machine thtat’s to blame when your doing something and it spins up and hits your face)
Work
a transference of energy (sounds painful…….)
joule
a newton meter or a measure of energy/work (should be the name of a zany fruity candy)
power
measure indicating rate of doing work (MAXIMUM POWER!!!!)
