always function as nouns, so they will be subjects, subject complements, or objects in the sentence
infinitive phrase
will begin with a [to + simple form of the verb]. It will include objects and/or modifiers.
appositive phrase
is a noun or noun phrase that renames another noun right beside it. Can be a short or long combination of words
participial phrase
A participle phrase will begin with a present or past participle
prepositional phrase
At the minimum, a prepositional phrase will begin with a preposition and end with a noun, pronoun, gerund, or clause, the “object” of the preposition.
