Variable
a an object or quality or property that is being measured
Independent variable
the variable that I change
Dependent variable
the variable that is the outcome or is dependent on the independent variable; the results
Control variable
stays constant throughout the course of the experiment
Biased
in favor of one side or the other; make the experiment unfair
Unbiased
having no favor towards on side or the other; impartial
Tool
a device or instrument that is used to carry out a particular function
Balance
an instrument that measure the difference in weight; the act of keeping the experiment fiar
Spring scale
a scale that is used to measure how much something weighs
Graduated cylinder
an instrument used to measure the volume of a liquid
Meter stick
a tool that measures in the standard SI unit
Stopwatch
a device that is used to calculate the exact time it took to preform a task
Reference point
a spot that remains in the place place so that other objects can be measured
Velocity
speed with direction; v = d/t
Initial position
the point at which the object starts
Final position
the point at which the object ends
Acceleration
when an object changes velocity:
- decrease
- increase
- changes direction
Distance
the amount of change in position
Speed
the rate at which an object changes position

the law of inertia; an object in motion will remain in motion unless acted upon by an unbalanced force
