A number can be irrational or rational. It includes all the numbers before.
Coefficients
Number that comes before a variable
Factor
Values that can be multiplied to get a product
Ex: 1,2,3,6 are factors of 6
Exponent
Number about the other that state how many times you’ll multiply that number by itself
Significant figure
Any non zero digit
Any 0 in between two non zero numbers
Any 0 that come after a decimal
Commutative property
The order in which an operation is done does not matter
5+4=4+5
Associative property
Grouping symbols does not affect the outcome. Works for addition and multiplication
Distributive property
Any number multiplied to a sum or difference of two or more numbers is equal to the sum or difference of the products
Reflexive property
Anything is equal to itself
Symmetric property
The order on either side of the equal sign does not matter
A=6 6=A
Transitive property
Any real number a,b and c if a equal B and B equals c then a equals c
Addition property
a equals b then a plus c equals b plus c
Subtraction property
a equals b then a minus c equals b minus c
Multiplication property
a equals h then a times c equals b times c
Division property
A equals b then a/c equals b/c
Substitution property
a equals b then b can replace a in any expression without changing the value of the expression
