Vocab Flashcards
Accommodation
The ability of the eye to adjust focus for varying distances
Amblyopia
Loss of vision without any apparent disease of the eye
Anisometropia
A refractive error of one eye significantly different from that of the other
Antimetropia
Sub-classification of anisometropia, rare refractive condition one eye is music and the other is hyperbolic. May lead to vertical imbalance
Diplopia
Seeing one object as two due to uneven tracking of the eye. Double vision
Presbyopia
Gradual lessening if the power of accommodation due to physical gov change that becomes noticeable about the age of 35
Phoria
Tendency for the eye to deviate from its visual axis or the normal
Tropia
Obvious deviation from the normal of the axis of the eye
Esophoria
Tend y for one eye to deviate off the visual axis toward the other eye
Esotropia
Actual deviation of one eye toward the visual axis of the other eye. Cross eyed
Exophoria
Tendency for one eye to deviate off the visual axis away from the other eye
Exotropia
Actual deviation of one eye away from the visual axis of the other eye. Wall eyed
Plus lenses
Magnify images Prisms are base to base Thicker center Converges light bringing images together Against motion. Images moves left as lens moves right
Minus lenses
Minify images Prisms are apex to apex Thicker edges Diverges light. Spreads apart With motion. Images moves left as lens moves left
Iris
Color part of the eye. Controls the amount of light entering the use through the pupil
