Uncertain, having contradictory feelings.
Example: After hearing that she had breast cancer, the patient was ambivalent about having a mastectomy.

To place, put on, or spread something.
Assent
To give consent, to agree.
Audible
Able to be heard.
Bacteria
Single-celled, microorganisms.
Bilateral
Present on two sides.

Of or relating to the heart.
Cavity
An opening or an empty area.

Come to and end or bring to an end.
Chronology
Order of events as they occurred; timeline.
Compensatory
Offsetting or making up for something.
Example: When the patient’s blood pressure decreased, the paramedic noted that the heart rate increased, which the paramedic recognized as a compensatory action.

Degree of viscosity; how thick or thin fluid is in relation to how it flows.

A reason something is not advisable or should not be done.
Convulsive
Having or causing convulsions, i.e., violent shaking of the body.

Example: During triage, the paramedic gave each accident victim a cursory examination.
