Anglican
A type of Christianity that includes the Church England.
Apostle’s creed
A statement of Christian belief from the early church.
Ascension
40 days after the resurrection, Jesus returned to Heaven.
Ascend means to go up
Atonement
The act of making amends.
Also, the reconciliation of God and Man through Jesus (because of the crucifixion)
Authority
The power to make decisions.
Eg a teacher has authority over her class.
Baptism
When someone (usually a baby) is Christened. Usually water is involved to wash away sin.
Believers baptism
This is when someone older is baptised, and they choose to become part of the Church.
Blasphemy
Saying something that is disrespectful to God.
This includes claiming to be God.
Cafod.
A charity. It is a Catholic agency for overseas development.
Catechism of the Catholic Church
A summary of Roam Catholic teaching.
Christian aid
A Christian charity that works in the developing world. They provide emergency and long term aid.
Church
This is the building that people worship in.
It is also used to describe the holy people of god, also called the Body of Christ.
Confirmation
A ceremony where a bishop bestows the Holy Spirit on you. In the Catholic Church, the girls wear a white dress and the boys wear a suit.
Convert
Someone who has decided to become committed to a different religion or faith.
