Abundant Number
When the sum of a number’s proper factors is bigger than the number itself.
24: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 12
Composite Number
A whole number with factors other than itself and one.
15: 1, 3, 5, 15
Common Factor
A factor more than one numbers share.
12: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 12 18: 1, 2, 3, 6, 9, 18
Common Factors: 1, 2, 3, 6
Conjecture
An educated guess about a pattern or relationship based on observations.
Common Multiple
A multiple the more than one numbers share.
2: 2, 4, 6, 8, 10… 6: 6, 12, 18, 24, 30
Common Multiples: 6, 12, 18…
Deficient Number
When the sum of a number’s proper factors is less than the number itself.
9: 1, 3
Even Number
A multiple of 2.
8: 1, 2, 4, 8
Factor
Any whole number you multiply to get another whole number.
Multiple
The product of a given whole number and another whole number.
6 is a multiple of 3 because 2x3=6.
Consecutive
A pattern or unbroken sequence of numbers.
1, 3, 6, 9, 12…
Odd Number
A number that is not a multiple of 2.
9: 1, 3, 9
Proper Factors
All of a number’s factors except for itself.
10: 1, 2, 5 (not 10)
Prime Number
A number with only 2 factors; 1 and itself.
19: 1, 19
Square Number
The product of a number multiplied by itself.
7x7=49
Whole Number
A positive number with no decimal, remainder, or fraction.
36, 19, 239847293847
