Astute
adj. Wise in a clever or practical way
When my project didn’t fit the regulations I told them I was just trying to be astute.
Trick: A Stute-A student, you can say a clever student.
Ungainly
adj. Moving in an awkward or clumsy way
“The common folk move in such an ungainly fashion!”
Trick: You don’t GAIN anything from being so clumsy
plumage
n. A bird’s feathers
The bird I rescued has brown eyes, copper colored plumage and a brown beak.
Trick:I like to think of a bird PLUMmeting to the ground.
figment
n. something that is made up in the mind but has no connection to reality.
When she realized that having enough money to keep her children full was no longer a figment of her imagination she burst into happy tears.
Trick: The FIG MEaNT-waaaait the fig doesn’t talk how do we know what it meant? Must have just made it up!

v. to search through or pick over, looking for something usable
The seagull knew his friends would never believe he found a whole hot-dog on the beach while scavenging.
