Vocab. 2/8/16 Flashcards
the motion of a body when only the force of gravity is acting on the body
Free Fall
the resistance of any physical object to any change in its state of motion (this includes changes to its speed, direction or state of rest). It is the tendency of objects to keep moving in a straight line at constant velocity.
Inertia
the product of the mass and velocity of an object.
Momentum
is thrown near the earth’s surface, and it moves along a curved path under the action of gravity only. The only force of significance that acts on the object is gravity, which acts downward to cause a downward acceleration.
Projectile Motion
the highest velocity attainable by an object as it falls through air.
Terminal Velocity
