The dissentient people decided to protest.
Effete
- No longer fertile

- The fact or process of freeing someone from legal, social, or political restrictions
The Emancipation Proclamation was a huge step forward in the battle for equal rights among all.

The boy showed impertinence after he interrupted the lesson twice.

The young tree swayed in a lithe manner.
Magnanimous
generous in forgiving an insult or injury; free from petty resentfulness or vindictiveness.
The child’s sister was very magnanimous when he accidentally hit her with a football.
Obstinate
- firmly or stubbornly adhering to one’s purpose, opinion, etc.
The obstinate child refused to eat his vegetables.
Petulant
- Bad tempered
When he got a bad grade on the test he was very petulant.
