Labiodentals
Sounds that involves the lower lip and upper teeth that come together to make a constriction in the vocal track.
Interdental
A sound that is produced by putting the tip of the tongue between the lower and upper teeth to produce a ‘th’ sound.
Palato-alveolar
A sound made with the blade/tip of the tongue that is near or touching the alveolar ridge and the main body of the tongue next to the hard plate.
Fricatives
A sound made by having the mouth in a position to block the passage of the airstream, but not with complete closure, so that the air generates audible friction.
Approximate
A sound that is make by bringing one articulator in the vocal tract close to the another without causing audible friction.
Nasals
A sound in which the airstream passes through the nose that lowers the soft palate (velum) at the back of the mouth.
Vowel Frontness
Vowel sounds that is characterized for being at the highest point of the tongue.
Diphthongs
A vowel that causes the speaker’s tongue to change positions while it is being pronounced, so that the vowel sounds like a combination of two other vowels
Monophthongs
A vowel sound that has a single constant articulatory position.

An accessible method for teachers to gather information on an individual child’s speech sound production.
Vowel Height
the vertical position of the tongue or the jaw that is relative to the roof of the mouth or the aperture of the jaw.
