Vocab Flashcards
Displacement
The change in position in an object(straight line from start point to end point)
Reference frame
The object or the point from which movement is determined
Vector
Quantities which are fully described by both a magnitude and a direction.
Velocity
A vector quantity - speed of an object in a particular direction.
Acceleration
A vector quantity - the rate at which an object changes it’s velocity.
Motion
An objects change in position relative to a reference point.
Distance
Measuring the actual path that is traveled.
Scalar
Quantities which are fully described by a magnitude alone.
Speed
A scalar quantity - the distance covered divided by the time it took to travel.
Average speed
Average of all instantaneous speeds; found simply by a distance time ratio.
