Vocab Flashcards
Inertia -
objects at rest remain at rest or objects in motion remain in motion unless acted upon by some external force
Mass -
the quantity of matter within a given object
an invisible force that pulls objects toward each other
the force of gravity acting on an object
distance traveled in a certain amount of time
energy transfer that occurs when an object is moved over a distance by an external force
particles move little and hold their shape, staying in a strict arrangement or lattice
particles stay together but slide easily past each other and take the shape of their container
particles move freely and quickly through space and fill any container they are in
energy of motion or movement (examples: particles moving, a car driving, a biker biking…)
- stored energy due to position or condition (examples: a boulder on top of a hill, a taut rubber band, a chemical bond)
