observation
the action or process of observing something or someone carefully or in order to gain information.
Hypothesis
a supposition or proposed explanation made on the basis of limited evidence as a starting point for further investigation.
experiment
a scientific procedure undertaken to make a discovery, test a hypothesis, or demonstrate a known fact.
data
facts and statistics collected together for reference or analysis
conclusion
the end or finish of an event or process
theory
a supposition or a system of ideas intended to explain something, especially one based on general principles independent of the thing to be explained.
law
the system of rules which a particular country or community recognizes as regulating the actions of its members and which it may enforce by the imposition of penalties
independent variable
the variable you manipulate, control, or vary in an experimental study to explore its effects.
dependent variable
the variable that changes as a result of the independent variable manipulation.
controlled variable
anything that is held constant or limited in a research study.
control group
used to establish causality by isolating the effect of an independent variable.
experimental group
the subjects that receive some type of special treatment in regards to the independent variable.
