Banding wheel

Armature
An internal support structure to help sections of a clay sculpture hold their shape when being formed
Bisque
Ceramic ware that has gone through the first firing
Bone dry
Stage of drying when moisture in the clay body has evaporated so the clay is no longer cold
Centering
The process of applying pressure to a lump of clay on a spinning wheel head to position it

Chuck
A clay shape used to secure leather hard pieces in place for trimming on the wheel
Coiling
Attaching rolls of clay together to form pottery
