Accoutrement - The Freedom of Information Act is the perfect accoutrement to the Bill of Rights.
A display of behaviour or attitude that is artificial or pretentious but meant to impress others.
Affectation - The daughter gently touched her mothers arm, clearly an affectation intending to convey fondness towards the old crone who gripped the family purse strings.
The representation of abstract ideas or principals by characters, figures, or even events in narrative, dramatic or pictorial form.
Allegory - George Orwell’s Animal Farm is an allegory of communism and the pitfalls of having a common identity.

Altruism
A brief statement containing general truth or opinion; an adage
Aphorism
Of doubtful authority or authenticity but widely made out to be the truth.
Apocryphal
Someone who leads the flock; a person or entity at the forefront of a trend, profession, industry or any other endeavour; trendsetter.
Bellwether
A warning or word of caution; specific limits.
Caveat
The use of tricks to deceive someone (usually to extract money from them).
Chicanery
An indirect way of conveying one’s thoughts and ideas; excessive use of words to express a simple meaning; deliberate attempt to be vague or evasive.
Circumlocution
Overwhelming desire (to the point of greed); the excessive urge to possess.
Cupidity
The centre of attention because of its beauty; a guide.
