modify (v)
change things slightly to make it better, or less extreme
Ex: Our school agreed to later modify the stringent rule on costumes to incentivize students’ self-expression
persist (v)
to keep doing/saying something in a determined way
Ex: You’ll get yourself into trouble if you persist in behaving in this way.
refine (v)
make some changes to sth to improve it
Ex: You should refine your argument so that it can reach wider audience.
revise (v)
- change your opinion/judgement of so/sth
Ex: After that incident, I should probably revise my opinion of her. (Nghĩ lại) - change, improve, make additions to a book, law, piece of writing
Ex: Make sure to revise your essay before turning it in.
