Verb
Expresses action, condition, or state of being for a subject in a sentence
Subject
The thing in the sentence that is doing the verb
Clause
a group of words made up of a subject, a verb, and all attendant parts
Phrase
A group of words with no subject and no verb but still have meaning
Infinitives
A construction of words that looks like (to + “action word”)NEVER the verb

Independent clause
A group of words with a subject and verb that is a complete thought
Dependent clause
A group of words with a subject and a verb that is not a complete thought
coordinating conjunction
connects two things of equal grammatical weight often called the “FANBOYS”

Complex sentence
A sentence that is made up of one independent clause and at least one dependent clause
