cynic
A cynic is someone who always expects bad things
to happen. My sister is a cynic, while I never worry.
defiance
If you act in defiance, you know something is not allowed,
but you do it anyway. When Sam refused to join the others,
he was acting in defiance of the rules.
profound
A profound thought is one that is deep and meaningful.
Kayla had her most profound thoughts at night.
inadvertanly
If you act inadvertently, you do something by mistake or
without realizing it. Although he had acted inadvertently, he
still had to pay for the damage.
consumed
If you consumed something, you ate it.
The squirrels consumed a pile of peanuts as we watched.
descended
If something descended, it came down or spread around.
The glider gently descended to Earth.
obliged
If you obliged, you did what you were asked or expected to do.
Glynn didn’t want to rake the leaves, but he obliged.
mundane
Someone who is mundane is ordinary and often dull.
She is too mundane to appreciate the joys of mountain climbing.
considered
If you considered something, you thought about it carefully.
Jorge considered the suggestion but decided to write on a
different topic.
disdain
If you treat someone with disdain, you act as if he or she is
unimportant or not as good as you are. Teresa treats everyone
with disdain until she gets to know them.
