Adj.
- appropriate for the situation& conforming to accepted behaviors
- Polite & well mannered
Ex. A decorous way of talking will let others think of you as proper& well mannered
Uncouth
Adj.
- rude, uncultured- lacking good manners & sophistication in appearance and behavior
Ex. The beggar was very uncouth, he took all the free food, slurped it down without even a thank you.
Paradox
Noun.
- self contradictory statement when on further explanation makes sense
Ex. “The only constant in life is change” is a paradox
Banality

Ex. The colleges won’t pick someone that is banal, they want some one new& fresh.
Treason

- a crime in which one betrays their own country
Ex. The king announces that treason, attempting to overthrow the king and the government will lead to death

-out of date& old fashioned
Ex. The dress I saw in the museum is archaic, it’s from 200 years ago and now it’s out of date

1. doubtful, suspicious
Ex. The old grandma is very incredulous as she have tricked many time by her grandchildren
Utopia

- an imaginary place that is described to be ideal & perfect
Ex. The president candidates said “ I will create utopia for the people, it will be perfect and no-one will be sad ever again”.
Benign

- showing gentleness/kindness
- not harmful( used to describe diseases)
Ex. The benign dog played so gently with the little kids, taking care of them while they played
Dulcet
(adj)
- sweet, peaceful and soothing ( usually used to describe sound)
Ex. The calm lullaby is dulcet, it’s so peaceful and calm and makes me relax
Lithe

-flexible and easily bent
- graceful, nimble & moves easily
Ex. The dancer was very lithe, she was graceful and light while dancing
Magnanimous

- benevolent & generous ( used in context of rivals and less powerful ppl)
Ex. The knight was magnanimous, he reached out to help his opponent up after their joust
Imperious
(adj)
- assumes power without acknowledgment and talking in a way that shows that they feel superior
Ex. That arrogant, imperious boy had been ordering the ppl around.
Vapid
(adj)
- boring, lacking in spirit, doesn’t offer challenges
Ex. When I got held back, the math classes were so vapid and boring
Languor

- a pleasant feeling of exhaustion & tiredness
Ex. After the long, hot day, he sank into a state of languor, feeling a heavy, pleasant tiredness wash over him.
Pedant
(noun)
- Someone too focused on small details
- someone who overly displays academic achievements and learning
Ex. My group leader is pedant, she pretends she knows it all and stops us from moving on based on every single detail in the rubric
Amiable

- having or showing friendly, sociable manners and qualities
Ex. The waiter was amiable, he smiles to everyone he Waites, he even pulled out chairs for them!
Reproach

Ex. She looked at him with reproach, showing her disappointment without saying a word.
Vile

-so bad and unpleasant that it’s disgusting
Ex. The vile smell of garbage filled the air, making everyone gag from its disgusting and repulsive odor.
Puritanical
(adj)
- strict, someone who follows religious or morals rules strictly
Ex. The puritanical; church controlled what everyone was wearing, saying unmodesty was a sin to god.
