Accommodation
Changes in curriculum, instruction, and assessment that allow students to participate in and access all aspects of inclusive classrooms and schools without significantly altering the nature of the activity.
Collaboration
Direct interaction between two or more co-equal parties engaged in decision making as they work toward a common goal.
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
A broad continuum of cognitive and neurobehavioral conditions that typically include impairments in socialization and communication coupled with repetitive patterns of behavior
Learning Disability (LD)
Disorder in one or more of the basic psychological processes involved in understanding or using spoken or written language which may appear as significant difficulties in the acquisition and use of listening, speaking, reading, writing, reasoning, or mathematical abilities.
Hearing Impairment (HI)
A permanent hearing loss or a decrease in hearing that is so significant it negatively affects a child’s performance in school or ability to learn.
Scaffolding
Techniques (e.g., visual cues, highlighting key parts) for breaking down concepts or tasks into smaller components to provide support and assistance until students can achieve the task independently.
