What is the Paleolithic age?
Greek for ‘old stone’. The time of humans from about 2.5 million-10,000 BC when they used stone tools.
What is a Hunter Gather?
Method when humans travel from one place to another (nomadic lifestyle) and hunt animals and collect foods like berries to survive.
What is the Neolithic Revolution?
Greek for ‘new stone’ from 8,000-4,000 BC. When humans went from hunting gathering methods to settling and growing their own food.
What is Archaeology?
The study of human history through the excavation of sites and the analysis of artifacts and other physical remains.
What is Anthropology?
The study of human societies and cultures and their development. (The study of humans).
What is a Hominid?
Human like creature that walked upright in Africa.
What is a City State?
A city that with its surrounding territory forms an independent state.
What are Hieroglyphs?
A stylized picture of an object representing a word, syllable, or sound, as found in ancient Egyptian and other writing systems.
What is Papyrus?
A material prepared in ancient Egypt from the pithy stem of a water plant, used in sheets throughout the ancient Mediterranean world for writing or painting on and also for making rope, sandals, and boats.
What is a Dynasty?
A succession of people from the same family who play a prominent role in business, politics, or another field.
