Who can own a veterinary practice?
Vet, RVN, lay people
Under schedule 3 of the veterinary surgeons act an RVN or SVN can:
Administer medical treatment or carry out any minor surgery (not entering the body cavity)
What conditions have to be met under schedule 3?
Nurse must be RVN or enrolled SVN
Must be done under direction if a veterinary surgeon
Animal must be under the veterinary surgeons care
Veterinary surgeon but be the RVNs employer (or employed by employer)
SVN ONLY- treatment or surgery must be part of training and must be supervised by a vet or RVN
Can RVNs and SVNs diagnose diseases and injuries in animals?

Can RVNs and SVNs give advice based on a diagnosis
