Deficiency- pharyngitis, cheilosis, angular stomatitis, glossitis, seborrheic dermatitis
Toxicity- photooxidation of some amino acids
Riboflavin
Deficiency- Pellagra (Diarrhea, dementia, dermatitis)
Toxicity- vasodilator, nausea, vomiting, hepatitis, neurovisual disturbances, glucose intolerance
Niacin
Deficiency- seizures
Toxicity- peripheral sensory neuropathy
Pyrodoxine
Deficiency- seizures, neuromotor disorder, developmental delay, Megaloblastic anemia
Toxicity- exacerbate B12 def, neuropathy
Folate
Deficiency- Macrocytic Megaloblastic anemia, nervous system involvement
Toxicity- worsens Leber’s optic atrophy
B12
Deficiency- Scurvy
Toxicity- Nausea, abdominal cramps, diarrhea
Vitamin C
Deficiency- Gastrointestinal and nervous system
Pantothenic acid
Deficiency- Seizures, developmental delay, rash, alopecia
Biotin
Toxicity- Hypotension, cholinergic fishy odor
Choline
Deficiency- Xerophthalmia-impaired dark adaptation, Bitot’s spots- Keratinization, Conjuctiual dryness
Vitamin A
Deficiency- Inadequate mineralization or demineralization
rickets of developing skeleton
osteomalacia in adults
Vitamin D
Deficiency- occurs with fat malabsportion
Vitamin E
Deficiency- individuals at risk include those with severe fat malabsorption or those who have bariatric surgery
Increase in prothrombin time- severe case hemorrhagic event
